State Library Computer Bus comes to GMPL
March 18th - 22nd
From March 18th - 22nd the Grafton-Midview Public Library will hold a variety of free computer classes to all individuals and businesses in our community.  Seating is limited and registration is required for all classes.

Mobile Computer Lab Classes

Thursday, March 18th
FaceBook for Adults
12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Are you curious about social networking and Web 2.0?  Wondering what all the FaceBook hub-bub is about?  Learn some basic FaceBook skills and see how interactive websites are taking the internet by storm.  This class is taught by Robin Wood, Director of the Amherst Public Library.

Resume Writing
2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Don’t get looked over for a great job because of a poorly designed resume.  Learn how to write a great resume to land you the job of your dreams.  This class is taught by Robin Wood, Director of the Amherst Public Library.  Registration is required.

Online Games for Kids
4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Join Mrs. Mullins as she explores many links to family friendly game playing for kids of all ages.  Registration is required.

Microsoft Publisher
6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Need a brief introduction in desktop publishing.  Create a unique greeting card for a friend or family member during this short class on Publisher.  This class is taught by Tami Mullins, PR Associate, GMPL.

Fun & Easy Web Resources
3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Join Fred Backstrom, Reference Associate of GMPL as he explores some of the coolest and easiest sites on the web.  Interact with Craigslist, Wikipedia and Google Earth in this short and recreational program.

Saturday, March 20th
Excel Tips & Tricks
1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Join Pieri Levandofsky of PC Computing LLC of Medina, as she shows you Excel shortcuts that make using this popular spreadsheet program a breeze.  Registration is required.

Job Hunting Online
3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Visit numerous websites, some of which you may have never heard of, and broaden your job hunting horizons.  This class is led by Tami Mullins, PR Associate, GMPL.

Do you love quilting?  Did you know there’s special quilting software to help you design “one-of-a-kind” quilts?  Learn some of the basics of this very popular quilting software.  This class is taught by Kelly Grace, member of the Lorain County Piecemakers Quilting Guild.

Recording Your Family History
Monday, March 22nd from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Local artist, story teller and historian, Lani Cuson, will speak about preserving family history.  Through examples of her work and a PowerPoint presentation, she will introduce patrons to the art of searching for and recording family history.  She will explain where to seek information and the right questions to ask when interviewing.  Mrs. Cuson has researched and compiled the stories of several United States service men from WWII, which will be on display the evening of her talk.  She is currently working on the story of another WWII veteran, a flight engineer and top turret gunner on B-24's surviving 30 missions on the England to Germany bombing runs.  Registration is required.

We cannot reserve materials through email, but you can ask at the Circulation Desk about creating a PIN for your account so you can access it online.  This allows you to place holds and renew materials from home.

Computer User Classes
The GMPL offers a variety of beginner-level computer classes for patrons of all ages.  Computer classes at the Library are limited to a maximum of 6 patrons to allow for more hands-on instruction.   For a list of available classes please go to (LINK).  Remember to check the Library’s event calendar, the Rural-Urban Record, our website and in-building signage for the schedule of upcoming computer classes.  Individual computer tutorials may be scheduled upon request, but availability may be limited.  Please ask or call the Reference Desk (440-926-3317) for more information or to schedule a tutorial.

Interlibrary Loan Services
If GMPL does not have a certain item you are looking for, we can borrow that item from another library for you.  Items will typically arrive within 1-2 weeks depending on the when the lending library ships the materials.
Items marked as New and certain Audiovisual materials are not available for Interlibrary loan.

Adult Programming and Clubs
GMPL strives to offer a variety of educational and entertaining programs to our community, the majority being free of charge to participants.  The Skein Gang and Paper Caper Club are two groups run by the Library that meet on a regular basis, ask at the Circulation Desk to more information or to signup.  GMPL also has an Adult Summer Reading program in which winners are drawn weekly for prize baskets.
